Ford has made significant strides in vehicle reliability, as evidenced by its improved performance in the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study by raising 10 spots higher since 2024. This marks a notable step forward for the automaker, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the quality and dependability of its vehicles. The annual J.D. Power study, which measures problems experienced by original owners of three-year-old vehicles, is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive evaluations of automotive reliability in the industry. Ford’s progress in this area is a testament to its efforts to meet customer demands for durable, high-performing cars and trucks.

For the 2025 study, J.D. Power surveyed over 30,000 vehicle owners, assessing the frequency and severity of problems encountered across more than 200 vehicle models. The findings revealed a significant improvement in Ford's overall ranking, reflecting a more consistent and higher level of vehicle reliability compared to previous years.

Ford’s improvement in the dependability rankings is particularly noteworthy in the context of the automaker’s broad portfolio, which spans everything from compact cars to full-size trucks and SUVs. The brand’s legendary trucks, including the F-150, have long been known for their durability and tough performance. However, the company has expanded its focus beyond just the truck segment, investing heavily in the reliability of its passenger cars and electric vehicles. This broad approach is critical as the market shifts towards more environmentally conscious consumers and growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs).

The study also highlights Ford’s success in addressing some of the most common issues that affect vehicle dependability. The company has worked diligently to refine its powertrains, infotainment systems, and safety features to ensure a seamless driving experience for its customers. Additionally, Ford’s commitment to improving vehicle technology, especially in the areas of connectivity and driver-assistance systems—has led to fewer reported issues in these categories.

Ford’s improvement in the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study demonstrates the company’s dedication to producing reliable and durable vehicles across its diverse lineup. As Ford continues to focus on quality control and customer satisfaction, it is well-positioned to remain competitive in the increasingly complex and evolving automotive landscape.
