Ford's historic 1966 podium sweeping win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans stands as a momentous victory for American motoring. Six Ford GT40 Mk II's, driven by Bruce McLaren, Chris Amon, Ken Miles, Denny Hulme, Ronnie Bucknum, and Dick Hutcherson, finished in the top six places, shocking the established European racing powers like Ferrari, Porsche, and Alpine. In order to commemorate this extraordinary racing car, Ford has released the special edition 2022 Ford GT LM. This is the last production of the Ford GT; the 20 final production models will be made and shipped this year.
The entire exterior body of the vehicle is rendered in carbon fiber, which is then painted in Liquid Silver. To pay homage to the red and blue liveries of the 2016 Ford GT, which also won at Le Mans, the customer is able to choose between red and blue accent colors, which appear throughout the vehicle. This includes on the Brembo carbon fiber 20 inch wheels. In the interior, luxury is blended with functionality. The carbon fiber racing seats are covered with Alcantara fabric, which is luxurious and plush, similar to suede. The red and blue accents are visible here as well, as the driver's seat is specially colored in the customer's chosen accent color. On both seats, matching accent stitching is added to create a distinct, elegant look to the interior. This elegance extends to the instrument panel, which is furnished with more Alcantara fabric, as well as Ebony leather. The center console is also accented with carbon fiber, as are the vents.
Although all performance details have not yet been released, the current 2022 Ford GT has a 3.5 liter V6 under the hood, producing 647 horsepower, 550 pound-feet of torque, and going 0-60 in 3 seconds flat. With this performance in the base model, the 2022 Ford GT LM is sure to turn heads, both because of its speed and its eye-catching styling.
