Ford has just received its best ever ranking in 31 years as the second highest rated non-premium brand in J.D. Power’s 2017 Initial Quality Study. Their ranking is rightfully earned due to the company’s many advancements and improvements in their product.
Ford assessed all of the issues existent within their merchandise and were able to improve upon more than 15 of these problems. They took into consideration the likes and the dislikes of their customers, aiming to center the new advancements on what the customer desires most. While this takes great time and effort, the company was, in fact, able to succeed.

Ford began by granting more than three-fourths of their vehicles with an advanced technology system known as SYNC 3. SYNC 3 is equipped with all of Ford’s standard SYNC features — including voice calling, voice control, and select apps — as well as an intuitive screen interface and additional voice activated technology. These many improvements on the past technology systems has made Ford’s SYNC technology even more desirable to customers.
The company has also produced new ideas that will prove to be very convenient and helpful to Ford vehicle owners. For example, Ford has inserted more driver-assist features in their product, granting drivers more specified options for their choice of driver assistance. These include a more adaptive cruise control and an enhanced forward collision warning, making Ford the leading manufacturer for vehicles with these options.
One of these enhanced features, adaptive cruise control, allows the driver to still be in complete control of the vehicle even when cruise control is chosen. One example involves allowing the driver to use stop-and-go technology, which gauges the speed of the vehicle ahead to allow for appropriate following distance.
Another improvement concerns collision warnings. While backward collision warning is common in vehicles, forward collision warning is not nearly as common; however, a forward collision is just as likely on the road as a backward collision. Ford realized this possibility and ensured that it was a priority.
Not only has Ford made advancements with the interior and technological aspects of their vehicles, but they have also improved the exteriors of their cars and trucks. The company has expanded upon their EcoBoost engine technology and the actual body of the trucks, incorporating aluminum into the bodies of the F-series truck, which makes the vehicle run more smoothly and accurately.
With all of these improvements, it’s no surprise J.D. Power’s survey rewarded Ford for taking “Built Ford Tough” to the next level.
