When a sedan is too small but a regular SUV is too big, the best option is obviously a crossover, but not just any crossover. Ford never lets you settle and neither will the 2016 Ford Escape.

The Ford Escape comes standard with a 168-horsepower engine, which is more than enough power for your everyday needs. But if you want a little more power to this crossover, you may opt for the 179-horsepower turbo engine or the 245-horsepower engine. All engine types come standard with front-wheel drive, and the two turbo engines come with optional all-wheel drive for your adventurers. The standard engine has a combined EPA of 24 mpg and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds.

The interior is just as impressive and sleek as the exterior of the Ford Escape. It includes plenty of cargo space due to its flat cargo floor, and 60/40 rear flat-folding seats. The snazziest option, however, is the power-hatch option, activated by simply swinging your foot under the bumper to open back hatch, which makes putting groceries in the back much simpler. The Ford Escape also comes complete with a rear-view camera system as well as the MyFord Touch infotainment system.

An SUV crossover is the best of both worlds: large enough for all of your family and travel needs as well as durable, but not quite as hefty and meaty as a pick up. Ford has always been known for innovation, and the 2016 Ford Escape is no different.
