The majestic 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series made a showstopping debut at the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans, displaying a blend of high performance, premium function, and unmatched sophistication beyond anything that has come before. The GTD model, painted in eye-catching Chroma Flame, highlighted Ford’s commitment to excellence in design and engineering.

A standout feature of the Mustang GTD was its new Performance package, aimed at completing a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in under seven minutes. This package included active aerodynamics, such as dive planes, a larger splitter, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system for the rear wing. These elements worked together to reduce drag on straightaways without compromising aerodynamic grip in corners. Additionally, the Lightweight package removed sound-deadening materials and added 20-inch magnesium wheels, enhancing the car's agility and performance.

The Mustang GTD also featured a driver-focused interior designed to keep drivers engaged and confident. Standard Recaro seats provided exceptional support, while the new flat-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in premium materials, offered additional controls for suspension firmness and exhaust mode. This setup allowed drivers to maintain focus while adjusting the car's performance settings.

One of the most exciting aspects of the GTD interior was the inclusion of large, 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters. These oversized, hexagonally patterned shifters offered a tactile grip and improved the driver’s ability to control the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle. The interior also featured a thick-rimmed steering wheel with Dinamica inserts and titanium trim on the rotary gear selector, adding to the premium feel of the cabin.

The Mustang GTD’s Chroma Flame paint made a bold statement at Le Mans, part of six available colors that included Polymimetic Gray, Race Red, Shadow Black, Frozen White, and Lightning Blue. The Carbon Series trim showcased exposed carbon-fiber elements, leaving the hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck unpainted. The car’s wheels, available in aluminum or magnesium, were finished in Magnetite, with options for body color or contrasting painted stripes and various brake caliper colors.

Ford also enhanced the Mustang GTD’s digital and user experience with Mustang GTD-specific graphics powered by Unreal Gaming technology. The Sync 4 infotainment system featured unique welcome and farewell graphics, while the 13.2-inch touchscreen and 12.4-inch reconfigurable digital gauge cluster provided essential driving information. The Performance gauge cluster, exclusive to the GTD, emphasized gear indicators and the tachometer, stripping away unnecessary details for a focused driving experience.

The debut of the Mustang GTD Carbon Series at Le Mans underscored Ford’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of performance and luxury, setting a new standard for the iconic Mustang lineup.
