Ford is already at the top of the game when it comes to extreme outdoor adventure. Yet, that doesn't stop the automaker from pushing forward into new terrain. This year, Ford is furthering the fun with the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept.
Equipped for extreme adventures, the Timberline Off-Grid concept elevates the SUV's already strong adventure-ready capability. Focused on multi-day off-roading functionality and ease-of-use, the one-off model uses proven names in off-road hardware and off-road accessories so adventurers can trek anywhere, no matter how remote or hard-to-reach. Furthermore, the model is based on the new 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline series, otherwise known as the most off-road-capable Expedition ever.
One of the most noticeable features on the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept is the SUVs raised stance. The 2022 Ford Expedition already has the best available ground clearance in its class, standing strong at 10.6 inches. The concept, however, adds an additional 2 inches with custom FOX Performance Elite Series 2.5-inch shocks with Dual Speed Compression adjusters and remote reservoirs front and rear. To top it off, the concept features 17-inch Method Race Wheels with Bead Grip technology, which are wrapped with 35-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires.
For those excited to explore via camping, the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept ensures the best possible mobile campsite by leveraging Ford’s Outfitter collection with dealer-available accessories. A Thule Tepui Explorer tent with crossbars that attach to its roof rails, a factory-available transmission shield, Overland Vehicle Systems’ Nomadic 180-degree awning that pulls out to protect from the elements, or a Wild Land portable privacy room shower are a few options you can choose to deck out your new Expedition with.
As we look to the interior of the concept, we see an EZ STAK custom aluminum dual storage drawer unit. This sits under a custom Luno camping mattress which is the perfect size for two. Luno also provides a concept-specific Base Extender, window shades, and a portable USB fan to make sleeping in the concept more comfortable.
These are just a few of the special features in the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept that can provide you the ease and functionality you need, whether trekking to mountainside trailheads, remote lakes, or distant desert dunes.
