Ford has propelled itself to the top-selling automaker in the United States for the month after it reported its September 2021 sales. In August, Ford made improvements to its production and inventory, which paid off quickly. By September, Ford’s retail sales were up 34.3 percent over the previous month, which boosted its retail share up to an estimated 12.9 percent for the month, or up 3.8 percentage points over August.

Ford has continued to expand its retail orders in September, as vehicles are moving from dealer lots to customers driveways at the fastest pace ever this year. Furthermore, Ford has released several innovations and additions to its products. One of the most unique is its entirely electrified vehicle portfolio, which continues to attract new customers to the brand at a higher rate than for Ford overall. The month of September brought further wins for Ford’s electrified vehicles, with sales that hit 9,150, up 91.6 percentage points over last year’s numbers. The Mustang Mach-E, for example, had retail sales that expanded 9.2 percent in September alone. This has pushed the Mach-E up to just behind Tesla’s Model Y. Now, the Mach-E sits in second-place rank in full electric SUV sales.

Other must-have Ford products include its commercial trucks and the F-Series. Strong gains came from its commercial truck sales in September, up 16.6 percent over August. The F-series continues to expand its lead as America’s best-selling truck for 2021, a feat like no other. There was an all-around increase in sales for some of its popular models, and the highly anticipated Maverick recorded its first sales at the end of September.

Another product for which business has been booming is Ford’s Lincoln SUVs. Retail sales for Lincoln’s new Nautilus were up 37.5 percent over the past year. The Nautilus realized its best September retail sales performance in 14 years this year. Additionally, the Nautilus was Lincoln’s best-selling vehicle in the month of September. Overall, Lincoln’s retail sales increased 52.6 percent compared to August results, a massive jump.

Ford keeps a customer-centric business that offers drivers the most functional products on the market; and clearly, this is being recognized by customers as sales soar. With some of the best inventory turn rates and sales records in quite some time, this is an exciting milestone for Ford and its future.
