Smart taillamps display the percentage of payload capacity by illuminating the LEDs arranged in a built-in vertical bar. When the truck is fully loaded, all four lights illuminate. If the truck is overloaded, the top lights blink so customers are always aware without any difficulty. The truck can even be set on scale mode to zero out the current load and approximately weigh the additional items loaded into the bed.
The class-exclusive SmartHitch feature helps customers easily load trailers and practice safe towing better than ever before. By measuring the tongue weight of a trailer being connected, SmartHitch provides its tongue weight and guidance on weight distribution and hitch overloading. Similar to the other new features, this information is easily accessible on the screen, the FordPass app, or within the smart taillamps. The truck even guides owners through properly tensioning a weight redistributing hitch and will indicate if the hitch weight is too high or low.
Continuously controlled damping in the all-new 2021 F-150 offers an enhanced ride and handling characteristics, even when towing or hauling especially heavy loads. The damping force controls unwanted motions like bounce, pitch, and roll, creating added comfort for drivers and passengers alike when driving through a pothole. A computer within the F-150 analyzes signals collected from its high-resolution sensors and adjusts the vehicle response by controlling valves in the shocks. By preventing the tires from dropping as deep into holes in the road, the F-150’s passengers can continue onwards confidently and smoothly.
