Ford has revealed its jaw dropping first edition GT supercar, dubbed “The Heritage Edition" to honor its earliest endurance racing roots.
One of the most exclusive special editions ever made, the stunning sports red, white, black and bare carbon fiber exterior with the number 98 — is a tribute to the rvividly painted GT40 Mark II that won the first-ever 24-hour endurance race at the 1966 Daytona 24. The GT40 driven by Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby won by over 30 miles, and led two other GT40s to victory making a historic mark with an all-Ford podium (and recreated in the recent Ford vs Ferrari movie). This milestone made the GT an icon in the racing program.
The GT Heritage Edition showcases more similarities with the original car’s exterior such as red side stripes, asymmetric red accents on the front fascia, roof edge, and rear wing, red lacquered Brembo monoblock brake calipers, gold-painted 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and a blacked out hood section, not to mention, it looks extremely unique.
You won’t be surprised to find that the interior features the finest materials including black Alcantara suede on the instrument panel, steering wheel rim, and headliner. Red accents are also brought inside through red Alcantara suede performance seats and anodized red paddle shifters.
If you want more throwbacks to memories from the 1966 Daytona race, you can opt for a “Heritage Upgrade Package.” This replaces the gold wheels with 20-inch exposed carbon-fiber wheels and black-painted brake calipers. It also features “ghosted” 98 roundels on the carbon-fiber door panels. And of course, it boasts an immense 660 horsepower and 550 pound feet of torque with its twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6.
In addition to the Heritage Edition, Ford has also launched a new GT variant in collaboration with Multimatic—the Studio Collection. This features a new graphics package that the buyer can choose to make their 660-hp ride even more exciting, and of course, standout from the crowd.
The GT Studio Collection will be available with seven standard customizable colors, including design features and functional cooling ducts.
GT enthusiasts should grab the limited-edition fast because Ford will only build 40 GTs with the Studio Collection package through the 2022 model year. If you’d like to get started, there’s a handy configurator on the Ford website that allows you to start building and visualizing your ideal model.
