Ford has made a powerful move into expanding the Mustang family for the first time in 55 years. Reviving a treasure of the past, Ford has incorporated the Mustang into the electric age with their all-new 2021 Mustang Mach-E—an all-electric SUV.
Bill Ford, executive chairman for the Ford Motor company, had this to say in his introduction of the vehicle: “Today, the Ford Motor Company is proud to unveil a car that strikes like forked lightning all over again. The all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E. It’s fast. It’s fun. It’s freedom. For a new generation of Mustang owners.”
Arriving in late 2020, the focus of this new, improved and all-electric Mustang Mach-E completely revolves around the customer needs and desires. Its new features utilize state-of-the-art technology to ensure its ability to continuously get better over time. Powered by permanent magnet motors, the Mach-E will be available with both standard and extended-range battery options with the options of either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Its EPA-estimated range is at an impressive minimum of 300 miles, 332 horsepower, and 417 lb.-ft. of torque. In other words, its standard all-wheel-drive variation is targeting 60 mph quicker times than the base Porsche Macan series.
To emphasize its value on the customer experience, Ford will offer two new special performance versions available to choose from: the GT and the GT Performance Edition. The GT targets 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, while the GT Performance Edition targets 0-60 mph in an astounding mid-3-second range.
In addition to these versions, the Mustang Mach-E offers three drive experiences to match their customers’ needs: Whisper, Engage, and Unbridled. These experiences offer finely tuned driving sensory experiences, driving dynamics and custom-designed vehicle responsiveness that include sportier steering controls, and even ambient lighting.
“The Mach-E harnesses the power of electrification to create a unique driving experience while retaining that unmistakable Mustang feeling of freedom.” - Ted Cannis, Ford Enterprise Product Line Director, Global Electrification
