The 2018 Ford Expedition is simplifying the process of towing and backing up trailers with the new and exclusive Pro Trailer Backup AssistTM feature. With a towing capability of 9,300 pounds, the Expedition ranks best-in-class and is more capable than any other full-sized SUV on the market. Customers can steer their attached trailer with a control knob while the Expedition's new Assist technology automatically accommodates the trailer for the best positioning. The Expedition’s Terrain Management SystemTM also limits the vehicle speed according to different terrains for optimal comfort for passengers. These brand new features available on the new Expedition models make towing, backing up trailers, and navigating different terrains an easier, safer, and more efficient task.
This news comes just in time for the summer boating and camping season, where frustrations commonly arise from trailer backing and boat unloading issues. “You can spend more time on the water than struggling to back up and launch your boat,” said Craig Patterson, the SUV marketing manager at Ford. Although the feature is new to the 2018 Ford Expedition models, this is not the first time Ford has offered the feature. The Pro Trailer Backup AssistTM feature was available as early as 2016 in that year’s F-150 model.
In addition to the Pro Trailer Backup advancement, the 2018 Expedition will also feature many connectivity and convenience features including: wireless charging for compatible devices; Wi-Fi Hotspot capability on up to 10 devices within 50 feet of the vehicle; a dual-headrest entertainment system for passengers in the back seats; SYNC technology that allows users to start, lock, and unlock the vehicle from anywhere; power points in every row, including USB chargers and a 110-volt power outlet; adjustable seats for advanced cargo management; and even more. A panoramic vista roof is also available with the new Expedition, which is a feature not offered by other competitors.
