Say hello to the all-new all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400. This purpose-driven vehicle will not cost you a drop of fuel and will save you from the disturbance of vehicular noise pollution. The Cobra Jet 1400 is new to the Ford Mustang family, following the debut of the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV. The Mach-E SUV was the first-ever all-electric Mustang. This family of electric cars is sure to advance technology by pushing boundaries and expanding vehicular innovation, unlike any other manufacturer.

Projected to deliver over an incredible 1,400 horsepower and more than 1,100 ft-lbs of instant torque, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is built for power. This means you will not have to worry about the immense capabilities of an electric powertrain. The advanced technology presented by this vehicle poses a huge opportunity for Ford to push the boundaries and innovate in this industry through the Mustang family.

As a tribute to the original Cobra Jet that dominated drag strips in the late 1960s and is still a major force in sportsman drag racing today, this vehicle represents the first time in history that the Ford Performance division has introduced a one-off Mustang Cobra jet factory drag racer—with all-electric propulsion.

The Cobra Jet 1400 as a part of the Mustang family is the crux of modern, cutting-edge technology and an American-made trusted brand.  “We saw the Cobra Jet 1400 project as an opportunity to start developing electric powertrains in a race car package that we already have a lot of experience with, so we had performance benchmarks we wanted to match and beat right now,” Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance Motorsports explained further. With numerous partners such as MLe Racecars, Watson Engineering, AEM EV, and Cascadia, Ford Performance has ensured efficiency and quality of the race car through specialization and individual expertise.

A sneak peek of the race car began on Sunday, April 26 on MotorTrend On Demand’s “Hard Cell,” which showcases a series of innovative and boundary-pushing electric vehicles. The Cobra Jet 1400’s world debut is set to be later this year at a drag racing event for fans, media, and competitors will all get the opportunity to see the race car’s capability on the asphalt.
