The All-New 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty: the Next Level of Built Ford Tough Heavy-Duty Pickup Trucks

The new 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup includes new improvements to gas and diesel engines, a new 10-speed automatic transmission, chassis upgrades, exterior and interior design updates, and new advanced technology that creates a new standard in towing, payload, and connectivity.

Ford designs and builds all of their heavy-duty engine and transmission combinations to ensure the powertrain works seamlessly with all vehicle calibrations and chassis components. With the Super Duty, there's no exception. The 2020 model has two new engine offerings as well as a new transmission.

The Ford-designed 7.3-liter gas V8 is expected to be the most powerful gas V8 in its class. An all-new cam-in-block overhead valve architecture provides maximum durability and has a cast iron block and steel crankshaft. Intake and exhaust has been optimized to match performance with workloads using port injection with variable-valve timing, and oil jets cool the pistons under heavy loads.

The 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 includes a new 36,000-psi fuel injection system featuring new injectors that meter and spray up to eight times per stroke to control noise levels and optimize combustion. This V8 features a redesigned electronic-actuated variable-geometry turbocharger, which improves pumping efficiency and throttle response. The strength of the cylinder head, block, connecting rods, and bearings were enhanced to handle higher cylinder pressure and increase output. New steel pistons provide more horsepower and torque by having a higher firing capability and less friction.

The all-new 10-speed heavy-duty TorqShift automatic transmission is available with all engine options. The TorqShift is designed for the harshest towing conditions and offers a wider gear ratio span than 6-speed transmissions, but it fits in the same space as the 6-speed and weighs only 3.5 pounds more. The TorqShift offers class-exclusive live-drive power takeoff, allowing operators to engage industrial equipment and accessories while the truck is in motion. It even has selectable drive modes that include normal, slippery, tow/haul, eco, deep sand, and snow.

The class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist is available for the 2020 model and makes negotiating the largest of trailers into tight spaces easier than before. No hands are required as drivers use the Pro Trailer Backup Assist knob to easily steer the trailer with help from the reverse camera. The Trailer Reverse Guidance System shows the trailer's angle and direction and provides steering suggestions to direct the trailer backward. Both systems can be used with all trailer styles, including gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers.

The Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage monitors for vehicles in your blind spots, and the available lane-keeping alert helps you stay between the lines on the road. Available Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking helps to avoid collisions with other vehicles. These features are standard on Super Duty XLT edition and above.

FordPass Connect is included with every new 2020 Super Duty and comes with an embedded 4G LTE modem with Wi-Fi access for up to 10 devices, available wireless charging, and USB-C ports to power your devices.

The front-end design provides optimal cooling and lighting performance under heavy loads. All dual-rear-wheel Super Duty trucks are fitted with a high-airflow grille, which was designed to provide maximum powertrain cooling.

The improved LED headlamps have a new look, and the improved front bumper and air dam optimize cooling and make utility hooks easier to use. The Super Duty conveys a bolder Built Ford Tough style with an improved tailgate design, revised taillights, and new rear bumper.

The decorative appliqués on the doors and media bin door on the Lariat edition have been updated, and on Platinum edition trucks, the pieces are made with Onyx Argento wood. The interior of the Limited model features a newly updated color scheme of Ebony and Highland Tan, and authentic materials such as genuine leather, coarse ash wood, and modern brushed aluminum trim create a modern feel. The leather-wrapped instrument panel topper, door armrests, seating, and center console lid feature decorative stitching, and an embroidered Super Duty logo decorates the floor mats. Miko suede is used in the headliner to give the cabin a spacious feel.

The new 2020 F-Series Super Duty will start shipping to dealers this fall.
