At the 2018 SEMA show, Ford previewed the new limited-edition Series 1 Mustang RTR. Ford has teamed up with world champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr., owner of RTR Vehicles, in a collaborative effort to take Ford Mustang to the next level with updates to both style and performance.

Buyers can choose between a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine or the 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine to power the Series 1 Mustang RTR. The Performance Pack 1, which comes with the Mustang, adds a host of upgrades, including a strut-tower brace, beefier brakes, and special chassis tuning.

Ford Performance suspension adds adjustable sway bars, which have a regular or MagneRide suspension option buyers can choose from. These sway bars can be set for drifting, drag strip runs, track racing, and normal road driving. The staggered wheel and tire package provides 19 x 9.5-inch front wheels and 19 x 10-inch rear wheels, completing the Series 1 Mustang’s driving versatility.

The Series 1 Mustang RTR features a unique RTR badge on the grille, fenders, and puddle lamps. RTR customized the shift knob and floor mats inside the cabin, and the dashboard houses a serialized plaque for authenticity. The aero package includes new bumpers, bonnet, and side sills as well as special lighting. A gurney flap for the rear spoiler is also available in the Performance Pack 1. Buyers will also receive a certificate of authenticity upon purchase.

Only 500 Series 1 Mustang RTR conversion kits will be sold with a Ford factory limited warranty and Ford Credit financing for those who qualify. These kits are designed to be installed on any Mustang EcoBoost Performance Package 1 or Mustang GT Performance Package 1 model. Buyers can expect to see the Series 1 Mustang RTR conversion kits available at select Ford dealers by early 2019.
